The City of Dickinson has issued a mandatory evacuation for all citizens within the city. The population there is nearly 19,000.
Dickenson Police Sgt. Tim J. Cromie said the evacuation was being ordered "because of a combination of several factors, including the fragile infrastructure within the city due to the storm flooding, the limited utilities available at this time, and current continued forecast track of Hurricane Harvey."
Citizens were advised to check www.redcross.org for shelter locations. Those in need of transportation can contact the Dickinson Emergency Operations Center at 281-337-4700, Ext. 311.
