Triple-A Texas' Sarah Schimmer says there are a lot of factors to consider.
"Not only did we have the eclipse which spurred a lot of last minute travel we also have the hurricane in the Gulf which can impact production and distribution and we have Labor Day right around the corner which also, historically affects demand as well."
Schimmer says it's a good idea to fill your tank before the power goes out because filling station gas pumps are electric.
"A storm like this typically causes an increase in fuel purchases in the market; spikes at the pump due to the effects of hurricanes tend to be brief but dramatic and it is a good rule of thumb for people to have a full tank of gas."
Schimmer says Harvey will affect refineries and we could see a 5 to 15 cent uptick in gasoline prices.
