Harvey targets Houston

The remnants of Harvey are likely to pull themselves together today and organize into a tropical storm. The projected path of whatever Harvey turns out to be will take it into Texas, possibly as early as sometime on Friday.

“The system is slowly gaining organization, and will become a tropical depression or storm either later today or tonight,” Daniel Brown at the National Hurricane Center tells KTRH.

The problem is not just that it will hit us on Friday. The problem also could be that the system will stall once it reaches Texas. That means we have the potential for flooding rains.

“It could produce excessive amounts of rain. It could also produce winds and storm surge threats as well,” Brown said.

If you aren’t prepared for the storm, Brown says you should get on that as soon as possible.

“Residents should be thinking about their hurricane plans and preparations. Now is the time to do that,” Brown explained.
