The second annual Houston Egyptian Festival will be held 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sat., Oct. 28, at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, Downtown. Highlights will include camels rides and pictures, belly dancing performances and lessons, food, and live entertainment. A presentation will also spotlight ancient Egypt, and its history, art, and language. Kids will enjoy crafts on papyrus, henna, face painting, a costume contest and other family activities. Tickets are $10 per person, and kids under 12 are admitted free. Proceeds benefit Crime Stoppers of Houston, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Soaring Kidz, Houston PetSet, and Friends of Egyptian Children with Cancer. For more info, see egyptfesthouston.com/.
