New HBO show causing social media outrage

A new show from HBO is getting blasted on social media, and it hasn’t even been filmed yet.

The show ‘Confederate’ is set in an alternate reality where the South wins the Civil War and slavery is developed into a modern institution. Yet at the same time there was no outrage over Amazon’s 'Man in the High Castle,' where the United States lost World War II. Syracuse's Robert Thompson tells KTRH the outrage doesn't stun him at all.

“I don’t think we should be surprised at all that there is going to be a lot of people making noise about that even before the thing is even started,” Thompson stated.

And says the mainstream media feeds the outrage we see on social media.

“We live in a culture of outrage. That leads to an awful lot of conversations that are silly and not really intelligent,” Thompson stated.

This is all coming after WGN America canceled “Underground,” its critically acclaimed drama about a group of runaway slaves and abolitionists fighting for freedom as part of a network buyout
