Consumers Look for Great Deals on Amazon Prime Day

The numbers show just how big the online retail giant Amazon has become. Half of all American consumers buy something there once a month -- more than that right now.

Amazon Prime Day started Monday night and runs all day Tuesday.

Sarah Hollenbeck is a shopping expert with Offers.com.

“Amazon has Prime Day spotlight deals, lightning deals and then a separate savings and deals section,” Hollenbeck says, “so the best thing to do would be to be looking at all those deals and then comparing them to competitor prices.”

Some customers will be looking for deals on tools and clothing, but most are scoping out electronics and home goods during this busiest shopping day of the year for Amazon.

“It's definitely something a lot of Americans are taking advantage of,” she says, adding, “at least 4% of those people will be getting a Prime account just for Prime Day.”
