Is there enough patriotism today?

There’s a debate going on about patriotism following the shootings of a group of Republican Congressman and their aides in Virginia on Wednesday.

There are those on the left that may not be practicing enough patriotism. Those on the right think we need more of it in order to ‘Make America Great Again.’

Those who think we need more of it say stunts like the one Kathy Griffin pulled with that picture of President Trump's severed head are the problem. Melissa Mackenzie with the American Spectator told KTRH that after eight years of Obama politics there's an entire generation that has lost their patriotism.

“We had a President who viewed himself as a world citizen, not an American. We have a whole generation of kids that grew up during that period thinking America is not that great,” Mackenzie explained.

So, how do we turn this around? Mackenzie says it's totally up to you, and that teaching your kids is the most important thing.

“Take them to parades, say the Pledge of Allegiance; you do all of the things that used to be considered ‘normal’ for an American,” Mackenzie stated, adding that after eight years of President Obama, it might just be a daunting task.
