If the rain holds off, there could be major backups on the southbound Gulf Freeway Saturday. That traffic on I-45 will be blocked from Fuqua to Dixie Farm Road.
Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Diedrea George says the six-year project is nearing its end.
“The last things we have to do,” George says, “is striping and striping is weather permitting, so that's why we've had to reschedule (some times).”
The next project will involve work between NASA Road-1 and FM 518.
“It will just continue what we've done from Beltway 8 to Bay Area Boulevard,” she says, “so it will extend from three lanes to five lanes and also add another frontage lane.”
