Texas Parks and Wildlife has given the okay for a License-Free Fishing Day on any public waterway - including the Gulf of Mexico. It's seen as an opportunity to introduce aspiring anglers to the sport.
Visitors to state parks can already fish without a license; so can people under the age of 16.
At all other times of the year a Resident All-Water Fishing License would cost 40-dollars.
