Drones Outlawed Over Prisons, Stadiums

Drones are being banned over sports stadiums and correctional facilities in Texas.

State lawmakers have approved a bill that makes it a crime to fly a drone above:

--Sports arenas with a seating for 30,000 or more.

--Jails.

--State prisons.

--Immigrant detention centers.

Violations are punishable by six months in jail.

The ban starts Sept. 1.

It is intended to prevent drones that might carry weapons to harm crowds -- or to sneak contraband to people who are being detained.
