The Houston suburb of Conroe is the fastest-growing city in America.
That's according to new U.S. Census statistics -- numbers that put Frisco and McKinney as second and third on the national list for growth.
Conroe's population jumped 7.8 percent from 2015 to 2016 -- the fastest rate during that period of any in city in the country.
Brian Bondy, head of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, says the city is well-positioned outside Houston for business and industrial-park activity.
Bondy tells NewsRadio 740 KTRH’s other strengths include the lake, the housing expansions, the city's hometown feel and the people.
Four of the five fastest-growing cities, in fact, are in Texas, according to the census numbers. Georgetown ranks fifth.
Houston, meanwhile, saw a dip in new residents -- about 19,000 new people moving in during 2016, which was less than half as many as the year before.
