Houston New Homes Sales Flat, But Good

New homes are spending about 4 ½ months on the market in Houston before they're being bought. The pace of sales hasn't changed much at all from last year in any of the state's top four markets.

Texas-based Real Estate Broker Ben Caballero is owner of HomesUSA.com.

“I've always admired the spirit there in Houston,” Caballero says. “You do have a tendency for boom or bust, and when things are good they are really good.”

He says the same spirit sometimes causes Houston to over-build.

Builders have been so busy the last year that sale of new homes was up 12%, even though it takes just as long to move a new home off the market.

“Builders list these homes whenever they are under construction,” he says. “Sometimes a builder will list a home at the foundation stage.”
