Facebook Creates New Posting Guidelines

The pressure is growing on Facebook to block some of the most disturbing content being posted. In response, the social mega-site has come up with a new set of rules and guidelines for what is permissible.

Social media consultant Madalyn Sklar says freedom of speech is important, but not the most important thing.

“At the same time,” Sklar says, “Facebook has to have a responsibility to this community of two-billion users and they have to draw that line and stick with it.”

Sklar doesn't like that pictures of abuse animals will be shown.

“(They’ve decided) It's okay to show animal abuse, but not videos,” she says, “but, any kind of abuse is abuse.”

Guidelines on sexual content are still confusing and apparently some videos of violence will be okay for posting because they can create awareness of issues like mental illness.
