There is a hidden military race going on right now, where the United States tries to maintain its dominance of space. Military officials have told members of Congress space is now considered to be a "warfighting domain."
National security analyst Richard Turzanski says our military efforts would be crippled without satellite technology.
“They want to knock our satellites out,” Turzanaski explains, “because if they can it makes it very difficult for us to navigate, to command and control.”
When military action is required, the U.S. has a huge advantage through the use of satellites. Turzanksi says they let us know where our troops are at all times -- and where our adversary is. Fighting a war blindly would be a major setback.
"So much of our war fighting is dependent upon instantaneous communication and space-based measurement,” he says.
