Democratic Houston Congressman Al Green tells a town hall meeting he has been receiving death threats since he took to the House floor to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Green played some of the messages for the crowd that gathered at South Houston’s Fountain of Life Center Saturday. Some of the threats also included racial slurs.
There was an increased police presence at the meeting, but there were no incidents.
Constituents asked questions about the impeachment process. Others voiced their opposition to the current president, while others complained of the partisanship that leads to gridlock in Washington.
Green promised the group he would submit a resolution to impeach Trump “soon”, but did not offer a timeline.
