With unemployment down around 4% Americans are switching jobs at an accelerated pace. Payroll processor ADP says 27% of us switched jobs in the past year.
Human resources guru Lance Haun says he's not surprised.
"Salaries are starting to go up; compensation is starting to reflect a market that's friendly to employees."
Haun says if you've been thinking about a career change, now's the time to do it.
"The biggest compensation increase you're going to get is when you switch jobs; usually that's what people find."
During the Obama administration, when unemployment was higher, workers were afraid to make the leap; but now workers have more leverage.
Haun says if you've been thinking about a career change, go for it.
"Right now moving makes a lot of sense for people and I think that's why you're seeing it; people feel pretty secure, pretty stable and if this doesn't work out they find another job, so it's easier to take that risk."
In a survey conducted for ADP 63% of workers said they were open to the idea of job hopping and that has many employers concerned.
