A student with a gun was arrested on the Waller High School campus on Wednesday morning, according to the school system.
Based on a tip from a student to a teacher, “school officials immediately confiscated the weapon and the student was arrested,” according to Waller ISD Danny Twardowski.
The student was in an alternative learning classroom – a portable building outside the school.
“The incident was isolated, and all students and staff are safe,” Twardowski stated in a letter to parents. “There were no direct threats made against anyone. Still, this is a serious violation of the law and the Waller ISD Code of Conduct.”
The superintendent said that “appropriate legal and disciplinary action will be taken.”
“I want to commend the student who informed staff of the weapon that was present, as well as the professional action of the staff member, campus administration, and law enforcement officials who worked quickly to ensure the safety of our campus,” he said.
The student’s name and age are not being released.
