Amended Pension Bill Passes House; Senate's Next

Houston's pension reform bill passed the Texas House of Representatives on Monday afternoon in amended form.

The amended plan not goes back to the Senate.

The plan would retire more than $8 billion in unfunded liability. It was long touted by Houston Sylvester Turner as a way to avert fiscal crisis without raising taxes.

Turner warned of 2,000-plus layoff if the state did not approve the plan.
