Threat of EMP Attack Growing

The threat of an electro-magnetic pulse attack (EMP) is very real. Experts are moving aggressively to do what can be done to repel that.

North Korea isn't capable right now, but it's moving in that direction.

National security expert Edward Turzanski says our communication and energy network is so complicated, this country is vulnerable.

“Bad news does not get better with age,” Turzanski says. “We have underinvested in our military and our overall defensive capability when it comes to EMP.”

Turzanski says the best way to stop that kind of attack is to prevent a missile launch. The explosion of a nuclear device overhead could shut down all electronics and send America back to the dark ages.

“The consequences would be lasting,” he says. “We would not easily recover. We are working on fortifying ourselves against that threat.”
