Today's Children's Museum Event Puts Kids in Kitchen

It’s “Iron Chef,” kid style.

The Children’s Museum of Houston is encouraging healthier lifestyle and food choices with chefs, health and fitness experts on Saturday.

Did you know the average person eats almost 1,500 pounds of food a year?

Healthy eating habits can begin early.

Kids are invited to discover what’s yummy for the tummy and learn cool facts about the fuel the body needs to get up and go.

Saturday’s event starts at 10 a.m. and offers engaging activities and guests to encourage healthier lifestyle and food choices.

It includes:

-- Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt: Win a prize by looking for food items to create a balanced meal.

---Carrot Away: Recipe 4 Success will get carrot-away and challenge you to peel carrots as fast as you can.

---Kid’s Yoga: Practice yoga poses, stretches and breathing exercises with Yoga One.

--Chef Cook-Off: Participate in salad prep rounds led by Hyatt Regency Houston’s top chef.

--H-E-Buddy Appearance: H-E-B’s mascot stops by for a meet-and-greet.

The event is in partnership with The Creative Kitchen Kids Food Festival To-Go and the Association of Children’s Museums, Parents and FamilyFun magazines.
