Texas Congressman Spearheads Obamacare Repeal

House Republicans release their plan for the Obamacare replacement, dubbed the American Healthcare Act:

"It is Obamacare - gone - because we repeal all those taxes, those mandates, those subsidies. There's nothing left there...

Woodlands Congressman Kevin Brady - Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee and one of the leading critics of the law for the past seven years - tells Fox News that Republicans answered President Trump's call to 'act decisively to rescue americans from this failing law.'

Brady says, "It has been seven years since Obamacare was passed into law. It is collapsing; it has hurt more people than it has helped."

According to its sponsors, the plan empowers individuals to decide how to spend their healthcare dollars. It also has patient protections, preventing health insurers from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions. The plan will modernize and strengthen Medicaid. It also sets up a "state stability fund" so states can respond to the unique healthcare needs of their populations.

Houston Democratic Congressman Gene Green issued a statement saying the proposed plan means "more Americans will be forced to pay more for less care."
