Pretty People Aren’t the Only Ones Benefiting from Their Looks

Researchers confirm that good-looking people do often receive bigger paychecks, but they were surprised to find there's no "ugly penalty." Both groups get our attention -- and they benefit.

Houston Certified Financial Planner Richard Rosso says it’s about standing out from the crowd. “They have unusual or different physical characteristics that help them stand apart,” he says.

Rosso says standing apart may get you a bigger paycheck, but you have to perform.

“I do think it has to be backed by substance,” he adds, “but I think that may be what gets them in the door and makes them open to opportunities.”

The researchers conclude -- if you're "merely unattractive," that's not bad enough to be good for you. You may need a nose in the shape of Texas or some missing teeth.
