As a country, the United States has just broken the psychologists’ stress record, so to speak. A new survey finds a significant increase in stress for the first time since 2007.
This is all according to the American Psychological Association, which found in January that stress levels were worse than they were in August. The reason? Politics.
“It’s causing far more stress in our relationships. There are breaches in our relationships that are being caused by this polarization,” therapist Melody Brooke explained to KTRH News.
Brooke says she sees it first-hand. So why does it stress us out so much? Brooke says it's because we can't find agreement on pretty much anything politically these days, even within our circle of family and friends.
“There’s nothing more important to us than our relationships. There’s nothing that matters more,” Brooke stated.
And according to the research nearly two-thirds of you say you're stressed out over the country's future. That includes 59 percent of Republicans and 76 percent of Democrats.
