‘Day without Immigrants’ Protests closes some Houston restaurants

A handful of restaurants were closed on Thursday around Houston because of the national day of protests aimed at highlighting the importance of immigrants in America. Delia Valdez is one of the supporters that rallied in Downtown Houston last night.

“It’s unjust what’s going on. We need immigration reform instead of pushing everybody out and separating families,” she told our television partner Channel 2.

Another protester also spoke out.

“No more deportations. We have a lot of people that are working legally and we decide to support our people,” Nancy Olverra stated.

About a thousand protesters took part in the ‘Day without Immigrants’ rally held near Downtown last night.
