Democrats express concern over their own future

There is concern being expressed by some Democrats that their own future as a party is bleak; that they cannot regain the power they once had by continuing to move further to the left.

But not every Democrat agrees. Harris County democratic Party Chair Lane Lewis told KTRH he doesn't really see this shift to the extreme left even happening.

“I don’t really see a lot of extreme left in the party. What I am seeing is a lot of extremely angry individuals who want responsible government,” Lewis explained.

Those who have concerns, like moderate Democrats, want the party to work with Trump where they can. Democratic strategist Mustafa Tameez says that would work, but there doesn't seem to be any common ground right now.

“So far he hasn’t done anything to reach to the other side. When he does, with things that we agree with, I think that you’ll find a lot of friends on the Democratic side,” Tameez stated.

And Lewis told KTRH he doesn't think Democrats have any other choice right now other than to continue down the path they are currently on.
