One of them, House Bill 1923, would ban state or local governments from penalizing people whose business decisions are rooted in their religious beliefs.
That includes opposition to gay marriage.
State Rep. Matt Krause is the author of HB 1923. He says it would prevent the consequences seen in other states, where people have lost business and licensure and seen their livelihood suffer because of business decisions tied to their religious beliefs.
Republican colleague Matt Schaeffer is among those speaking up for HB 1923.
Both Krause and Schaeffer believe that business owners should be able to sell, serve and express themselves based on their religious beliefs without being penalized by the government
Similar legislation is filed in the Senate -- part of about a dozen bills tied to protect religious freedom and expression when it enters into business matters.
