The Texas Department of Transportation is completing final lane configurations on the southbound main lanes of the I-45 South Gulf Freeway project from Dixie Farm Road to NASA Bypass -- and because of that, all southbound main lanes from Scarsdale to NASA Bypass are closed all weekend.
That stretch will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, TxDOT says.
Until then, southbound drivers have to exit the main lanes at Scarsdale and detour to the frontage road through the NASA Road 1 intersection -- then re-enter the main lanes at the NASA Bypass/NASA Road 1 entrance ramp.
"Motorists should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes," TxDOT says.
All intersections between FM 1959/Dixie Farm Road and NASA Road 1 are staffed with police officers to help with traffic flow.
Northbound main lanes are unaffected by this weekend’s traffic switch.
