A Houston convenience store clerk in Northeast Houston fatally shot a man after he was attacked by the assailant who appeared to be intoxicated.
The incident took place on Tuesday night at the Lavender Food Mart in the Trinity/Houston Gardens area of NE Houston.
Po-Po say the 36-year-old suspect entered the store intoxicated and went behind the cash register and assaulted the clerk.
“The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Amri and K. Hale reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at the convenience store at the above address and observed an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives learned the male appeared to be intoxicated on an unknown substance when he entered the business, went behind the cash register and assaulted the convenience store clerk. At that time, the male clerk, 23, produced a gun and shot the male.
Investigators contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and were advised to refer the incident to a grand jury.”
