2 Houston Men Arrested For The Murder Of The NOLA Officer Were Free On Bond

HPD announced today the arrest of two men suspected of shooting and killing off-duty New Orleans Detective Everett Briscoe while he dined at a Galleria area restaurant.

Houston police charged 19-year-old Frederick Jackson and 21-year-old Anthony Jenkins with capital murder.

As the czar predicted, both men were free on felony bond and have long rap sheets.

Crime Stoppers Andy Kahan breaks down the history of both men.

ABC 13 reports:

“Jackson was already out for an aggravated robbery from 2020 in which he allegedly followed someone home from the Galleria area. His bond was forfeited earlier this year, and earlier this month, Jackson failed to appear for a court hearing, which, in its wake, led to the discovery that his ankle monitor was cut off.
Police further stated the two men are also connected to other robberies in the area, specifically targeting people for high-end jewelry. All indications from Briscoe's killing showed the shooting stemmed from a robbery gone bad, police said.”

Jenkins was free on bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

New Orleans Det. Everett Briscoe was a 13-year law enforcement veteran and a New Orleans police detective. He was also a husband and father of two.

His funeral will be held tomorrow in New Orleans.
