US Capitol Police's Plan To Expand Outside Of DC Called "Unconstitutional"

The US Capitol Police (USCP) is using January 6th to expand the police state as they will open regional offices outside of the capitol.

Remember that USCP is not subject to Freedom of Information Act requests, so it’s basically a secret police force.

In response to January 6th, the USCP will open new regional offices across the country.

According to USCP Chief Yogananda Pittman, the first two field offices will open in California and Florida, with additional states expected in the "near future.”

The purpose will be "to investigate threats to Members of Congress."

Tim Barber, Capitol Police spokesman says much like the Secret Service, which has field offices in multiple states and countries, they need to be able to monitor and quickly investigate threats against lawmakers wherever they occur.

The Capitol Police is considered a part of the Legislative Branch and thus is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act.

Chris Marquette, ethics and accountability reporter at CQ Roll Call, says:

“so if a journalist asks for records of police misconduct or inspector general reports, a lot of basic fundamental questions go unanswered. They’re just not required under the law to comply...
they’re not technically an agency and not required to produce documents they don’t want to produce, which is a problem. This is a police department that has more than 2,300 employees and 1,879 sworn officers, I believe, and a budget of $515 million.”

Nick Arama at Redstate points out the problems with USCP’s expansion:

“The Capitol Police is now basically just saying we’re going to have this huge expansion of this police power without any review or even a vote of Congress. They are completely controlled by Congress (translation: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at this point). We’ve seen how they respond to a basic question of who killed Ashli Babbitt by simply refusing to answer because they can. How do we think that’s going to work as they fan out and start investigating people across the nation? As we saw in the case of Babbitt, they are also not subject to FOIA.
So basically there’s going to be a police force, controlled by the Democrats, without any ability to demand transparency from it that’s going to investigate “threats” to members of Congress and provide “security” for them. Who will be determining what a “threat” is and who do you think they will be investigating with this? Three guesses. It wouldn’t be BLM or Antifa which has presented a continuing threat to governmental entities. It’s basically going to be investigating people they think are ‘extremists’ (translation: right-wing in their minds). Does anyone else see a potential problem here?”
