Man Free On Capital Murder Bond Is Arrested For Murdering 11-Year-Old Boy

A Houston man just arrested for an October murder of an 11-year-old boy was free on a low capital murder bond.

Twenty-one-year-old Desmond Hawkins was free on bond for a 2016 capital murder which came during the commission of a robbery.

Hawkins was granted the $90,000 bond in December of last year.

Crime Stopper Andy Kahan reports that while on bond for capital murder, Hawkins violated his electronic monitoring conditions on September 2020.

A bond violation report was filed but no action was taken by the 339th District Court.

Kahan writes “an 11 year old boy was murdered under the guise of criminal justice and felony bond reform. Let that sink in! Don’t expect any press conferences demanding changes or any reporting regarding victims of bond reform by the Houston Chronicle.”
