Watch: HS Wrestler Stops Kidnapping By Pinning Assailant To The Ground

A 16-year-old high school wrestler from New Mexico is being hailed a hero after stopping the attempted kidnapping of three young children.

According to the report, a woman hopped off a bus around 9 a.m. on Wednesday with her three young children and was waiting for an Uber to arrive.

Twenty-two-year-old Daniel Arroyo Beltran then allegedly approached her, grabbed her 2-year-old’s arm and demanded that she give him her children. 

Canaan Bower, 16, was filing up gas when he notice commotion.

Cannan’s father said “punches were being thrown and (he could hear) screams of terror, so he jumped in his truck and went across the street.By the time he got there, they had gone inside and so he got out of his truck and went inside.”

Troy Bower says his son slammed the man and got him in a chokehold until deputies arrived.

Last month, Canaan won the District 3-5A championship in the 285-pound (129-kilogram) heavyweight division and later competed at the state tournament.

His mother wrote a Facebook post about the incident that went viral.
