NASCAR’s Ryan Newman With A Horrific Crash & Miraculous Survival

The wreck happened on the final lap when teammate Ryan Blaney nudged Newman's No. 6 car ahead of Hamlin on the backstretch.

But the contact forced Newman to spin out, as his car first hit the wall and then flipped into the air.

Newman’s car landed on its roof and skidding across the track. 

NASCAR put out a statement saying he was being treated at Halifax Medical Center and that “[H]e is in serious condition, but doctors have indicated his injuries are not life threatening”.

USA Today reports that Denny Hamlin and team owner Joe Gibbs apologized for their victory celebration.

In Victory Lane, Gibbs apologized for his team's celebration, which stopped once they realized emergency crews were attending to Newman, who was taken to a local hospital. 
“We’re praying for Ryan,” Hamlin said in Victory Lane.
