Family Of Armed Robber Is Outraged That He Was Shot & Killed While Robbing

Twenty-three-year-old Roosevelt Rappley tried to rob a Dollar General store in Dayton, Ohio.

He pointed his pistol at a clerk. Another store employee was packing and fired upon Rappley, ultimately killing him.

And now the family of Rappley is outraged that an employee of the store would fight back against a robber.

His brother and sister, Rochelle and Tone Rappley, told Channel 7 Dayton that the Dollar General employee had no business having a gun in the store and firing it upon their brother.

Seriously, that’s what they are saying.

Rocelle Rappley says “[W]rong is wrong. That was wrong for that clerk to shoot my brother in the chest…”

She adds that her later brother has “got some responsibility” for his death, however she adds “but not all!”

They say the clerk shouldn’t have had a gun at work. Instead she says the store employees should “call the police. That’s what y’all are supposed to do.”

“Police say…Roosevelt…showed a gun and demanded cash Wednesday.”

WHIOTV reports:

In a 911 call, a man told dispatchers that a man with a gun attempted to rob him at the store.
“He pointed a gun at me,” the caller said. “I had a firearm on me. I pulled my firearm and I shot him in self defense.”
The caller also said that the suspect “shot back,” but it is not clear how many shots were fired during the incident.

Po-po confirmed that the employee who shot Rappley was legally allowed to possess a firearm.

Po-po also say the store had been robbed multiple times in the past and that Rappley is suspected in other armed robberies in the area.
