Is It Time To Privatize TSA?

As the partial government shutdown continues with no end in sight, calls have been growing for the TSA to be shut down and privatized in order to relieve the chaos at airports around the country.

That might help travelers who have been forced to wait in hours-long TSA security lines while the agency remains unfunded, but some are warning that it wouldn’t solve the main issue, which is Democrat obstruction.

GOP strategist and author Dewayne Moore called out the need to address that root issue, saying: “We also need to look at what’s going on in our Senate, what’s going on on the congressional side, and the Democratic Party that is beholden to keeping things shut down.”

He went on to say that while privatizing the TSA might be a good move in the long term, he also warned against allowing it to become an easy out for the Democrats. “Why would we make this decision under desperation?” he said. “You should never make a decision under desperation. I think it should be further thought out. There’s more due diligence to be done.”

Moore believes that while privatizing the TSA might be a safe and potentially even preferable option, there are still going to be pros and cons to doing that, and those need to be considered before a decision is made.
