Two students at Pasadena Memorial High School were arrested last month, and thanks to newly released court documents, we now know it was due to their alleged planning of a mass shooting—presumably at the school.
Eighteen-year-old Emilio Lopez is facing charges of conspiracy to commit capital murder, with an unidentified juvenile co-conspirator also facing charges.
The court documents reveal that Lopez and the juvenile defendant appeared to plan the shooting over text messages, with Lopez writing things like: “F--- it, at this point I’m tempted. People want to hate me anyways; I’ll give them a reason to hate me.”
Lopez has a prior arrest as a minor in 2023 for a family violence case. He is currently out on a $100,000 bond.
