An Off-Duty HPD Officer Shot On His Way to Work

Houston Police say an off-duty officer with HPD Is recovering in a hospital after he was injured in what police describe as a road-rage shooting.

Officials say officer Jake Parker was involved in a dispute/possible road rage incident involving 3 suspects at the intersection of Gessner and Hempstead. One man got out of the car and shot officer parker in the shoulder. The officer drove himself to the hospital.

Mayor John Whitmire reminding the public the day-to-day sacrifice police officers and first responders' risk to protect and serve the city. In addition, he is asking elected officials and the public to support law enforcement and refrain from misinformation and negative rhetoric.

The investigation is underway for the 3 suspects.
