HPD Gives Update After Officer Involved Shooting

Another night of violence in Houston. HPD says an officer  shot a suspect after that suspect pulled a gun.   

The shooting happened late Wednesday on the south side near the 610 South Loop and Hwy. 288

At a press conference from the scene, Houston Police Assistant Chief Adreian Rodriquez said the officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen SUV when the suspect took off near Hwy. 288 and Reed Road.  After a brief chase, the suspect crashed in the 7800 block of Tierwester St.  Rodriguez said that after a brief foot pursuit, the suspect pulled out a gun. The officer fired, hitting the suspect. The officer rendered aide until paramedics

The Houston Police officer involved in the shooting, who is a 4 year HPD veteran, was not hurt. He is currently on stadard paid administrative leave.
