Fed Meeting: Trump Says He'll Demand They Drop Interest Rates Immediately

Here we go, for the first time this year and the first time since president Donald Trump returned to the White House, the Federal Reserve is going to meet over the next two days.

And after 3 consecutive rate cuts to end the year, most experts believe we will not a 4th, to kick off 2025.

"I think what we're expecting is for the Federal Reserve to essentially just hold steady, and stay the course on interest rates" said EJ Antoni, economist with the Heritage Foundation.

What a difference compared to the end of the last year, when Biden and then Harris were up for re-election.

"This is in stark contrast to what they were talking about right before the election, where they were not only cutting interest rates, but that they were signaling a lot more interest rates were coming, and fast" Antoni told KTRH, "It's amazing how after Trump won, all of that changed. And now those interest rates have gone goodbye."

President Trump said last week that he would demand that interest rates drop immediately, so something or someone, is going to have to give.

"I think Trump is really holding a grudge, and rightly so" noted Antoni, "I'm not sure that there's anything Trump can do to work with this institution. I think what he really needs to do is clean house.

It's also worth noting that while the Federal Reserve is labeled as 'independent', over 90% of their donations go to - Democrats.
