Chase in Katy Ends with Carjacker Arrested and a Gunshot Victim

A carjacking in Katy on Wednesday night led to a high-speed chase, a crash, and the discovery of an injured woman inside the stolen vehicle.

Deputies responded to a reported carjacking at a gas station on Clay Road, where a woman was held at gunpoint and had her car stolen but was unharmed. The suspect took off in the stolen vehicle, leading authorities on a brief chase that ended near the Highway 99 and Clay Road entrance ramp when he crashed into another car.

Inside the stolen vehicle, deputies discovered a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the injured woman, who is believed to be the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, may have been shot when she tried to escape after the suspect allegedly went to her house after stealing the car.

The woman remains in critical condition.
