Ice continues to blanket large portions of the Houston area following a re-freeze last night.

This means that any ice and snow that managed to melt yesterday afternoon has now frozen back into ice across the roads. Officials are asking Houstonians to continue to stay off the roads as much as possible, at least until later this afternoon.

Mayor Whitmire recently spoke at a press conference saying, "Please Houstonians, hear me, we're half way there. The next 24 hours our the most dangerous."

Multiple roads across the Houston area have been completely closed due to the icy conditions. Portions of the Westpark Tollway, Crosby Freeway, Highway 146, Highway 225, Highway 90, Interstate 10, and Interstate 45 have all been closed.

You can find a complete and up-to-date list of road closures and reported incidents here.

The grid seems to be mostly holding up for now, but CenterPoint is reporting that as of 7:50 A.M. this morning, around 6,211 where without power.

Bush and Hobby Airports are expected to re-open today, but as of 6:30 A.M. there have already been 64 delays, and 390 cancelations at Bush Intercontinental. At Hobby, there have been 10 delays, and 96 cancelations.
