Donald Trump signs order pardoning 1,500 convicted over January 6th riots

Donald Trump has officially returned to the White House, and was busy on day one, signing close to 100 executive orders. One of the biggest he signed grants a full pardon to 1,500 people convicted in the January 6th Capitol Breach.

The President signed the order this afternoon from the Oval Office, calling the defendants 'hostages.' In that order, he also signed commutations of sentences for six defendants. He added he hopes those in prison are released quickly.

Trump stayed busy on his first day, signing a flurry of other executive orders.

Among the key ones were a removal of the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization. He also signed a border-related order, that designated the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
