CenterPoint: "We Are Ready For This Storm"

Houstonians haven't forgotten Winter Storm Uri, or last year's Hurricane Beryl. And neither has CenterPoint. The embattled energy company has been trying to restore it's image, after failing to restore the power.

Now, with Winter Storm Enzo is expected to bring historic amounts of snowfall to the greater Houston area, CenterPoint says this time, they are prepared.

"We heard the calls for change, and for increased focus after Beryl" said Keith Stephens, chief communications officer for CenterPoint, "We've made a number of implementations for our greater Houston resiliency initiative. All that's been going on since last summer. We are scaled and ready to go for this storm."

CenterPoint will be activating their level 2 emergency operations center, and they also brought in help from multiple states across the country.

"We are absolutely ready for anything that may come" said Darin Carroll, senior vice president of electric business for CenterPoint, "We brought in 1,200 additional folks on top of our day to day work crews. That'll put us close to 3,000 boots on the ground for this event."

They are also urging you to stay home, and to not drive unless you have to. On a positive note, while there will be snow, there is not expected to be a lot of ice, which can cause havoc on trees and power lines.
