Harris County OEM: "We Plan For The Worst"

Like everyone else, the Harris County OEM (Office of Emergency Management) has been preparing for this week's winter freeze in Houston.

"One way or another, there's going to be issues" said Brian Murray, the deputy emergency management coordinator for the county, "One of the things we usually do is we plan for the worst, so right now we are working with our partners, both inside the county and outside, and that would be like the American Red Cross and the Coalition for the Homeless."

Those issues he was referring to include power and frozen power lines, transportation and frozen or iced roadways, and of course people who may lose power, or those that are homeless.

"We're going to be activated for this event, it's probably going to be for multiple days" Murray told KTRH, "As long as the power stays, this will be a much easier event for all of us to get through."

He suggests that you protect your 4 P's - People, Pets, Plants, and your Pipes. He also said to stay informed with the latest updated information from trusted media outlets like News Radio 740 KTRH.
