Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg has filed new charges against former Harris County Public Health Director Barbie Robinson, who is already charged in a bid rigging scheme.
On Monday, Ogg announced two new felonies have been leveled against Robinson. Both are in relation to the scheme which aimed to illegally steer around $40 million to two different companies. She was charged with Fraudulent Securing of Document Execution of $300,000 or more. She was also charged with Tampering with a Governmental Record. If convicted , she could face up to 99 years or life in prison.
Those new charges are in addition to her third-degree charges of Misuse of Official Information, which were filed last month.
Robinson was accused in a bid rigging scheme that awarded a social safety net program to integrate county services to IBM. Robinson had previously worked with IBM before the bidding process began. She then used COVID funds to pay IBM. She also helped to award an $8 million contract to a one-person California firm known as DEMA Consulting & Management, which whom she previously worked.
She was fired from Harris County in August.
“People hate corruption because any misuse of tax dollars is an affront to our entire community,” Ogg said in a statement. “Now that more evidence of corruption has come to light in this case, more charges have been filed.”
