Houston Texans Take AFC Championship for 8th Time

The Houston Texans have clinched the AFC championship for the 8th time in the team's history, beating the Dolphins 20-12 Sunday at NRG Stadium.

Also on Sunday, the Colts lost to Denver, but with the Texans' record 9-5 while Indianapolis ended up 6-8, and because Houston won both times when facing the Colts, Houston owns the head-to-head tiebreaker.

So it's inevitable: Even if the Colts won their final three games of the season and the Texans lost all of their remaining three, Houston still has the division clinched.

Tickets for the playoff game are onsale here.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud said Sunday, "Today we took another step, to play for the division this early in December is kind of cool, and not have to wait until the very back end."

Quarterback C.J. Stroud got 18-of-26 passes for 131 yards, thowing a couple of 6-yard touchdown passes to Nico Collins, with Stroud finishing with a passer rating of 106.4.

The Texans are at Kansas City to meet the Chiefs this Saturday, then meet the Ravens on Christmas Day at NRG.
