Is Texas Spending Enough To Secure The Border?

Even with president-elect Donald Trump set to return to the White House, border security will still be a priority for the Texas legislature.

"You can guarantee that it's going to be at the top of the priority list for all the legislators, particularly the state leadership and Republicans" said Brad Johnson, reporter at The Texan.

Under Greg Abbott and Operation Lone Star, due to the failure of the Biden-Harris administration, Texas taxpayers are currently footing a bill of $4 billion annually on border security.

"Something is going to be done on the border, it's just a question of what that is? and how much money we're putting towards it" Johnson told KTRH.

Texas lawmakers can either keep spending as is, or when Trump takes over, get Washington to pick up the tab and let Texas use that money elsewhere.

It's also worth noting that over the summer, half of Republican voters said that Texas was spending too little on border security.
