Can Harris County Officials Now Look Up How You Voted?

Even though the voting went ok this time around in Houston, Harris County is face yet another election lawsuit.

This one was filed by the Public Interest Legal Foundation, over the voter machines used in Harris County.

"Because in Texas, if you vote in a countywide voting center, you do not have a secret ballot" said J. Christian Adams, president of PILF.

The ballots are not secret at all, as Texas officials can now look up how any individual voted.

"Look, it sounds far-fetched, I get it" Adams told KTRH, "But it turns out it's actually happening, and we brought a lawsuit to protect the right to a secret ballot."

Very scary, but very true.

"Texas officials know this happening, this is not a secret to anybody who's in the know in election administration" noted Adams, "They don't have a full-time fix for it, and we're bringing a case to protect the right to a secret ballot, because right now in Texas you don't have one."

It's a clear violation of the 1st and 14th Amendments. The lawsuit was filed against Harris County earlier this week.
