Border Patrol Morale Surges Following Trump's Victory

After four years of struggling to keep up with the massive surge of illegal immigrants, no one is happier about Trump's victory than Border Patrol and ICE agents. The difference in morale for these law enforcement officers has been described as "night and day."

Retired ICE Agent Victor Avila told KTRH the change was immediate. He said, "Some agents who were already considering retirement or quitting the agency are now going to stay because President Trump is going to be our new President."

But it's not just agents working at the border who are excited about the new administration. Avila believes that this new positive attitude will lead to strong recruitment throughout all of public service. He said, "I'm talking about police departments, the military; you're going to see people wanting to come back, knowing that they have someone in the White House who has their back."

Unfortunately, it's not all good news. With Trump's victory comes a surge of illegal immigrants who are desperately trying to make it into the United States before Trump takes office, and law enforcement will have to deal with that surge while playing by the Biden Administration's book.

On top of that, Avila says that it will take time to normalize the record-high immigration rates that have become common under the Biden Administration. He said, "There's nothing extraordinary about what we're going to be doing, other than going back to following the existing immigration laws that have been there for a long time. The same laws that the Biden-Harris Administration has been ignoring."
