Texas Senator John Cornyn will not be the next Senate GOP leader. Instead, South Dakota's John Thune won the secret ballot vote, and will replace Mitch McConnell, the longest serving party leader in Senate history. Florida's Rick Scott finished 3rd.
Cornyn, who at one point was considered a favorite, ended up with only had one public endorsement, and that was from Missouri Senator, Josh Hawley.
The secret ballot stayed pretty secret, as the majority of GOP senators did not disclose ahead of time who they were casting their ballots for.
